If you are running vCenter installed on top of the OS, sometime upon received an incident, service got hung and need to be restarted. Whereas you don’t want to reboot the OS since it will be taking time considering some OS files requires to be reloaded.
it is possible to restart the vcenter services while leaving the system powered on. just do small command as below:
- Go to where bin of the vCenter installed C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\bin
- Execute following command service-control.bat –stop –all and you will see it tries to shutdown all the services gracefully
- Once everything goes down, you may execute this afterwards service-control.bat –start –all
That’s all hope this helps.
