There are many ways to reset Mikrotik based on their device itself. But, in this case I would only discuss about resetting via button which I believe it’s the easiest way to do.<\/p>\n

Old architecture of MikroTik (powerpc<\/i>, x86<\/i>, mipsbe<\/i> or mipsle<\/i>) use following combination to reset via button.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Unplug your power cable<\/li>\n
  2. Push and hold reset button while you plugging the power cable<\/li>\n
  3. LED will be flashing statically, then blinking<\/li>\n
  4. Once LED became off, release the reset button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    That’s it. But there is a quite different step for newer architecture, smips<\/em>. Most of the people doesn’t know this trick and used above method would usually lead the device into not responding state, even required to be net installed.<\/p>\n

    Here is the differences;<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Unplug your power cable<\/li>\n
    2. Push and hold reset button while you plugging the power cable<\/li>\n
    3. LED will be flashing statically, then blinking<\/li>\n
    4. Once LED became statically again, then you have to immediately release the reset button<\/strong><\/li>\n
    5. If you wait until LED off, then you should found your device became not accessible. Net instal is required however.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
