Host core dumps cannot be saved."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just now  I&#8217;ve installed new ESX boxes but apparently there is one warning notice post implementation aforementioned the subject. Not taking a long time to open the ticket to VMware support and get the assistance right away. They told this is because of the improper configuration during the installation of ESX whereas I believe i did the proper right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rachmadona.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/no-coredump-target-has-been-configured.-Host-core-dumps-cannot-be-saved.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2749\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This issue affect minor which is just only logs cannot be save due to diagnostic partition was not selected. Nothing more critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to get rid this annoying warning, we can login to the problematic ESX with SSH then enter following command to get list of the log partition:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> <strong>esxcli system coredump partition list<\/strong> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then it will shown the current partition that is being used to dump the log.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rachmadona.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/esxcli-system-coredump-partition-list.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2747\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of the partition being set as active at this moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, in order to set a partition as an active, we need to put below command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>esxcli coredump partition set -p {partition name with suffix naa.xxxx:9}<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rachmadona.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/esxcli-system-coredump-partition-set.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2748\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is now shown as active and you will not have such kind of warning message anymore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just now I&#8217;ve installed new ESX boxes but apparently there is one warning notice post implementation aforementioned the subject.
